A day in your life

I look at my son everyday and think someday I'll miss this. In thirty years, when he's grown up with a family of his own, I'll miss the day to day things that make our life what it is.  I'll miss making his breakfast, reading him a bedtime story, dancing in the living room.  I'll miss how his head smells after a bath, the way he looks at me when he's doing something naughty, his happy babble.  I will miss it.

I know in thirty years, I'll be pouring over every photograph I've ever taken, a bit misty eyed, fondly remembering when.  Every photograph will take me back to a memory, and I'll relive these years again.

I want to help you remember when.  I want to create a session that documents who you are as a family right here and now.  I want to capture the silliness, the crankiness, the unconditional love that makes your family who it is.

I want to chronicle a day in your life.

Contact me at sarah(at)pikkuarkki.com or 050 349 4460 to schedule your session, party, or buy a gift certificate.

Family Session: Kemi Family

My session with the Kemi family was literally a walk in the park.  The great thing about Helsinki is the insane amount of forests in and around all sorts of different neighborhoods.  The Kemis wanted their shoot in the forest where they spend a lot of their time and even braved a bit of rain...

Party: Anna’s 40th Birthday

You’ve all seen Anna, but just to be sure, here she is again.  :) And on Saturday, Anna had her fortieth birthday party.  And what a party it was! The party was an intimate dinner gathering, complete with in-home catering and jazz ensemble.  It was stellar.  Really, really incredible.  Elegant without being stuffy, beauty without...

Family Photo Session: Owen 18 months

The weather forecast promised rain all weekend.  But when Benjy woke me up at 5:30am, I looked out and saw blue skies!  I nearly called Melissa and Mark to have our shoot immediately while the weather held! Luckily, the rain held off JUST LONG ENOUGH to get our session done.  And I’m really, really glad...

Preview: Owen’s 18 months!

Do you know what I love?  I love it when a client (who is also a dear friend) reads my blog and then takes it upon herself to be SUPER prepared for her shoot.  Melissa read the blog about Benjy and the bubbles and remembered to bring bubbles along! So, not only did I get...

Preview: Kemi family

When I get home from a shoot, I’m SO EXCITED to go through my card and see what I got.  In fact, on the way home, I’m already flipping through my camera and choosing the best ones. Today was no exception. I had a rainy day shoot today with the Kemi family- it was my...

Preview: Anna’s 30+10 birthday party

I just got home from an amazing dinner party, thrown in honor of one gorgeous woman, Anna. I have a lot of work ahead of me as I narrow down which images best show how fantastic this evening was, but I wanted to show you the guest of honor. Isn’t she gorgeous?  And I mean...

Playgroup: Koff Park

Playgroup!  At a park!  Not in a house! The sudden great weather gave us courage to head outside!  And wouldn’t you know it, for the two hours we were actually at the park, it was pretty stinkin’ cold and grey and windy. And great weather for photographs! And what greater subjects than these adorable kids...

Bad Influence

My kid is a rebel. Other kids might follow the rules.  But Benjy?  Benjy makes his OWN rules. Take the slide for instance.  Other kids like going down it?  Benjy spends his time going UP it. Nevermind he never actually gets anywhere.  And nevermind his insanely bad fashion sense- that’ll get its own very separate...

James the Victor

Yesterday we went to the park with Elizabeth, James, Melissa, and Owen.  It was WONDERFUL being able to take photos outside in actual light.  I’ll post more from the day later on, but now I wanted to show this one. James was in this concrete race car, and I managed to get a few hilarious...

Easter Service

I’m going to show you a picture here that marks one of the best, most joyous Easters I can remember. The service was lovely, my handsome husband played the cello during the hymns, there was a baptism, and an African feast in the crypt afterwards.  It was WONDERFUL. And I took the annual Easter photo...
